The latest numbers on foreclosures are no surprise

Aug. 23–The latest numbers on foreclosures are no surprise to Ray Weathers as he answers calls from people inquiring about what they can do to keep their home. Over the past eight months, the number of calls he’s had at the Consumer Credit Advisory Agency in Jacksonville has increased more than 8 percent, primarily due to the foreclosure issue. According to the N.C. Justice Center, which has foreclosure data going back to 1998, the state could reach a record 70,000 filings for 2010 if the average foreclosure rates so far this year stay constant.
